Okay everyone, I did it. I enrolled in a personal training certification program today. We had a snow day here, and I didn’t have to go to work. So I thought, what better way to spend the day then studying? Yes, I realize I’m a giant nerd. But the reading material has been super informative thus far. I feel like I’m already learning a lot about the profession and what it means just by diving into the history of the field.
And it is nice to know that even as far back as 400 BC people were connecting the dots between healthy eating and exercise! (Check out my previous post on this to learn more.)
“Eating alone will not keep a man well; he must also take exercise. For food and exercise, while possessing opposite qualities, yet work together to produce health … and it is necessary, as it appears, to discern the power of various exercises, both natural exercises and artificial, to know which of them tends to increase flesh and which to lessen it; and not only this, but also to proportion exercise to bulk of food, to the constitution of the patient, to the age of the individual.”
~ Hippocrates (Around 400 BC)
But don’t worry, I’ll still continue to post fresh content each week despite hitting the books. You all are very important to me, and I won’t forget about you!
Cheers,
Fey
