Hello and welcome everyone to another edition of Cooking with Fey! Today we will be making a basic broth that you can use as a stock for cooking or as a broth to drink if you’re sick (like me).
The ingredients can really be mixed and matched to meet your particular tastes and needs, but here are the basics of what I put in my broth:
- 1/2 pound of beef bones (yes, some chicken bones did manage to sneak their way into the stock as I froze them in the same bag as the beef)
- 3 large carrots
- 1/2 of a large yellow onion
- 4-5 cloves of garlic (garlic and onions are great for removing toxins or other impurities from the body, so I highly recommend these ingredients if you are sick)
- 1-2 Tbsp of vinegar
- 7-10 cups of water
- 1 Tbsp of oil
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Start off by putting all of the ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. Boil the broth for 2 minutes before turning the heat down to a simmer. Simmer for 3-4 hours, checking periodically to make sure the water level is okay. If it is too low, feel free to add more water.
And that’s it! Easy peasy homemade broth.
If you have any questions or comments please leave those down below and I will get to them as soon as possible. Otherwise you can find me on YouTube at Fey Fitness, or on Instagram @Fey_Fitness.
